Machine Intelligence based discovery of unknown phenomena and solutions to substantive problems.
Understanding serendipity mechanisms

Developing strategy and approaches for (AI based) Machine Discovery of new compounds.
Literature Based Discovery (LBD) (for use in Undersea Medicine applications).
Crafting the Navy's Unmanned Systems design and development strategy and approach; recommending use of modular system. This report was pivotal in conceptualization on program initiations of many systems and platforms, including the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). Also available here.

Developing modeling, simulation, and wargaming systems.

Being part of design team for the experimental Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR) built at Princeton (university's) Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL). - that was a while ago. (this has a little bit of the story.)
